What is the name of that company that produces those cute, unique little vinyl toys called Funko Pops? You guessed it, Funko is the name! Producing toys celebrating pop culture figurines, mainly fantasy characters, is the brainchild of Snohomish, Washington resident and t-shirt designer Mike Becker who cooked up the idea in 1998 as a result of his fascination with the Bob’s Big Boy burger franchise pop culture mascot. Mike purchased the Bob’s license and Funko was born! So what makes these little guys so popular? There are all kinds of opinions on that question but one fan nailed it when she said: Funko Pops have a deliberately engineered “awwww” factor. Simply stated, Pops are irresistible and adorable! A myriad of companies produce fictional characters in the forms of figurines, dolls and toys, but Pops are the ones that consumers most crave! As for the collectability of these little guys, the Freddy Funko Boba Fett released in 2014 as a San Diego Comic Con Exclusive, sold for a cool $6,000.00!
