Original 1959 Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" Promo Mono LP Record

Picture
This truly iconic jazz legend was nominated for a whopping 32 Grammy awards. He was awarded eight over the course of his four decade career. The first in 1960 and the last, posthumously, in 1993. Miles Dewey Davis lll was born on May 26, 1926 in Alton, Illinois. He was a major contributor to the world of jazz and was instrumental in the development of jazz fusion and bebop. Davis's mother wanted him to play the violin but the trumpet, his father's preference, won out! A great influence in Miles' life was saxophonist Charlie "Bird" Parker who he actually roomed with in New York City. Davis attended Juilliard School, a performing arts conservatory in New York City, briefly but left after becoming dissatisfied with their program. His 1959 "Kind of Blue", his most successful album, went platinum after unit sales hit four million! Miles Davis passed away on September 28,1991.
