Did you know? Salvador Dali was expelled from the same art school twice! A rebel who became quite known for his outlandish behavior and flamboyant dress, Salvador Dali, master of Surrealism, was ousted not once but twice from the Fine Arts Academy in Madrid, Spain. The first time Dali ‘got the boot’ was in 1923 as a result of his participation in a student protest. After his return to the school, he was expelled a second time in 1926 which ultimately prevented him from graduating. Salvador’s trouble with the Fine Arts Academy did not succeed in slowing him down. Soon after his art school debacle, Dali made his way to Paris and ended up meeting a future mentor and supporter, Pablo Picasso.
