Did you know? Ted Kennedy was the youngest hockey player to ever suit up for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the first to ever win the Stanley Cup five times!
Legendary Canadian Maple Leafs Hall of Famer Ted Kennedy’s nickname, ‘Teeder’, originated in Humberstone, Ontario, Ted’s home town. Seems that kids in the neighborhood had a habit of mispronouncing Kennedy’s first name, Theodore. Kennedy was the impetus for the five Stanley Cup championships captured by the Maple Leafs between 1945 and 1951. Maple Leafs owner Conn Smythe said of Kennedy, “He was not the most gifted athlete the way some players were, but Ted accomplished more than most of them by never playing a shift where he did not give everything he had."
